Tissue Biopsies for Definitive Diagnosis

Posted .

One of the services we provide for our patients in Studio City, California is tissue biopsies that may be needed after detecting abnormalities during your regular oral evaluations.

At Dr. Kolodner Dental Group Inc. we want to make sure our patients receive the highest standard of care during their treatment time with us. Both Dr. Izabella Kolodner and Dr. Tatyana Kolodner check for unusual signs that might indicate something is amiss by checking for unusual lesions, lumps, or discoloration of oral tissues.

As a board-certified oral surgeon, Dr. Susan J. Lee carries out both hard and soft tissue biopsies in our office. To do this, you will be given sedation to help you feel comfortable during the biopsy. Then, a small cut will be made to extract a small amount of tooth, bone, or gum tissue (this is known as an incisional biopsy). Once the tissue has been analyzed for signs of oral disease or cancer, a prognosis can be made and appropriate treatment sought.

Biopsies are often more accurate at diagnosing issues when compared to other diagnostic tests, particularly for cancer. It can also help us learn the origin of the cancer, where it started, in the mouth, or somewhere else and then spread to the mouth.

We look forward to helping you have a healthy, beautiful smile for a lifetime of smiles. To schedule a visit with one of our qualified dentists, please call 818-761-9526 today.
