Bad Breath or Halitosis?

Posted .

Most of the time bad breath starts in the mouth. To be more specific, it emanates from the back of the tongue. There are many reasons why bad breath develops. Some examples are:

  • Certain foods (onion, garlic, spices)
  • Cigarettes
  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Dry Mouth
  • Medications
  • Certain Illnesses (GERD, Metabolic disorders, etc.)

If you have noticed that you have bad breath, start by improving your oral hygiene habits. Tongue hygiene is very important. Brushing, flossing, and brushing your tongue after every meal should drastically improve your breath.

Drinking plenty of water is important as well. If these simple solutions do not improve the condition, you should see a doctor for further investigation.
